Skin & Derm Theory Aesthetics is a premier aesthetic spa offering skin rejuvenation treatments, including Spectra.

Ever wonder how Hollywood stars look so fresh and glowy on the red carpet? Have a wedding, holiday event, or special party to get ready for?

The Hollywood Laser Peel, also known as the Spectra Laser Peel is the answer. It is an exfoliating and skin resurfacing procedure that improves the appearance of dark spots, fine wrinkles, and acne, leaving beautiful and soft glowing skin.

Skin Theory Aesthetics is the Spectra Laser Peel expert, providing reliable results, all with no pain or downtime.

Spectra Laser Peel for Skin Resurfacing

What is the Spectra Laser Peel? Also known as the Hollywood Laser Peel, this skin resurfacing treatment uses a sequence of laser wavelengths and energy pulses to gently erase imperfections and dark spots including freckles, liver spots, acne scars, and even unwanted tattoos.

However, unlike other laser treatments, Spectra offers a quick, no-downtime solution to many skin issues.

The treatment is FDA approved and is suitable for almost all skin types.

How Does the Spectra Laser Peel Work?

Spectra is a multi-stage carbon-assisted laser peel. It uses a carbon mask, basically, a thin layer of Carbon Spectra lotion applied to the skin prior to the start of the treatment.

The laser energy acts on the skin in two ways:

  • Skin Cell Regeneration: The laser reaches deep into the dermis (the skin layer below the outermost part of the skin). This causes the skin to contract, which in turn stimulates skin cell regeneration and production of collagen.

Collagen is the protein that gives structure and flexibility to your skin. This laser action also helps reduce inflammation.

  • Light Ablation: The laser also destroys the carbon in the Spectra lotion that has been applied to the face as well as lightly ablates (exfoliates) old skin cells from the epidermis.

The laser likewise breaks up pigment (melanin) which the body eventually eliminates through natural processes.

In a treatment session, multiple passes of the laser may be made over the face until the desired results are achieved. Because the laser light used is gentle, there are no harsh effects and you can go back to your usual activities soon after your treatment.

  • Acne scars

What are the Advantages of a Spectra Laser Peel?

There’s a reason why so many Hollywood stars go for this treatment before a red carpet event. Because it lightly ablates the old skin cells, it gives you a nice youthful glow after the treatment.

Best of all, there is no downtime. You can have it done just before a party or that long-awaited (or dreaded) high school reunion and come out of your treatment ready and beautiful.
Spectra can be combined with other treatments such as IPL, microdermabrasion, and RF without any adverse effects.

What To Expect During Your Spectra Laser Peel Treatment

Before the start of treatment, the face is thoroughly cleansed.

A topical anesthetic cream may be applied to help you keep comfortable throughout the treatment. The cream takes around 20 minutes to take effect. However, the Spectra Laser Peel for the most part is painless and the anesthetic step may be skipped.

For Enlarged Pores, Acne Scars, Acne, and Fine Wrinkles

SpectraLotion™ specially formulated for the treatment is evenly applied to the face. The lotion has fine carbon particles that can penetrate into the pores or acne scars.

Several passes of laser are required for the treatment. As mentioned earlier, two things happen during the treatment:

  1. Laser light is directed onto the skin and it penetrates into the dermis. This stimulates cell regeneration while exfoliating the outermost layer of the skin.
  2. In subsequent passes of the laser, the energy causes the explosion of the fine carbon particles in the mask. This causes the pores to become smaller and reduces the production of oil. This helps control acne as well as stimulates collagen production.

The laser energy breaks up the melanin which can cause uneven skin color.

For Pigmentation or Tattoo Removal

During a treatment to address pigmentation or removal of tattoo, the laser is focused on the tattoo or the pigmented areas.

The Spectra Laser breaks down the pigment into particles. The particles are synthesized and are eliminated through the natural processes of the body.

The laser gives off quick pulses as it is passed over the skin. Do not be alarmed if you hear snapping sounds during the treatment. It’s normal to feel some tingling in your skin. You may also feel the skin warm up. A saline spray may be used to keep the skin cool between passes of the laser.

From start to finish, a typical Spectra Laser Peel treatment usually takes only less than an hour to complete.

While a single Spectra treatment can already give you great results, having up to three sessions spaced two weeks between treatments can give you the maximum results.

Are There Side Effects with a Spectra Laser Treatment?

Your skin may have a slight reddening after the treatment. However, this should subside within a few hours.
Some rare side effects may be:

  • Itching
  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Scabbing
  • Hypo or hyper-pigmentation (temporary)

While it is non-invasive, there is still some risk of infection from a Spectra Laser Peel treatment. Because of this, it’s important to choose a provider who is trained, licensed, and experienced in the treatment to minimize the risk of infection.

Is There Really No Downtime?
